It is easy to understand the merits and demerits of different ways of learning Spanish either online or in the comforts of your home. Having read all this, you must be wondering if taking a conversational Spanish course is really worth it. However, there are many good reasons you must learn Spanish. A huge section of the American population comprises Spanish speakers who have arrived here from different Spanish-speaking countries. You will encounter them everywhere, and in order to understand them, you must know at least the rudiments of Spanish. For example, consider the following scenarios.
A terrified child approaches you at a mall and speaks fast in Spanish. Even if you genuinely want to be of any help, you will not be able to help him because you haven’t learned Spanish. The child could be asking for your help. He might have lost his way or he might have lost his parents. He might even be looking for a missing pet or toy. Your knowledge of Spanish would have been of great help to this child.
You are sitting at a restaurant and a beautiful girl comes up to you. She says: Me llamo Maria. Como Te llamas? Do you know what she just said to you? Do you know how to respond? Well, this one I’ll give a little help with just in case so you don’t get completely blown off by not knowing. What she said is my name is Maria. What is your name? Your response would obviously be me llamo (name). Of course I gave you the correct translation and response, but if you do not know Spanish I just as easily could have told you something that would get your face slapped.
